Hope everyone had a great mother’s day weekend! I hadn’t posted Oly + Greg’s official blog from their newborn session yet, so I figured I’d send it out as a little post-mother’s day baby fest.  It’s rare that I post an ENTIRE session in black and white ( I am a little color obsessed, after all), but black and white photographs really speak to me. I started my journey as a photographer with a pentax camera and a roll of black and white film. All those hours in a dark room taught me to see in black and white and I adore black and white photographs to this day.  I’m not a photographer that just converts every photo to black and white—that’s just not me. I pick and choose and literally FEEL which photos really need to be black and white. For me, the ones I put in black and white are almost more special, they speak to me in a way the other photos don’t (not that I don’t love them all, I do, but certain ones just speak to me. It’s cooky, I know.)

I am totally in love with the stillness, the quiet beauty that these images give off in black and white. These precious, perfect moments when you are bonding with your new baby are why I ADORE lifestyle newborn photography. Here’s a quiet little look at my favorite black + whites from Baby Mateo’s session. If you’re craving the color versions, you can check out their video slideshow here

ok ok, ONE color version just because I couldn’t resist

And here’s the custom birth announcement we created. So stinking cute!
